With a name like A Brush More Colour you’re probably expecting a very colorful resource pack here. You won’t be disappointed if that’s what you’ve come looking for today. Just about every texture in Minecraft gets brightened up and emboldened by this pack, which somehow manages to squeeze more color even into textures which are normally very bland, like gravel and grassy dirt. The pack includes some improved shadow and lighting effects as well, with no need to download shaders or other resource-hogs to make them work. It’s about a third finished with regular updates still coming.
If you check back at the resource pack page regularly, you’ll see that the author makes note of the blocks and items which get revamped with every update. This is pretty cool and definitely more than most resource pack authors do for players. Recently the nether brick, wool, birch wood planks and bookcase textures were all improved with a boosted resolution and brighter colors. There are also a number of add-ons available for A Brush More Colour, all three of which significantly change the look of the pack. What you’re really getting here is more like four resource packs instead of one.
That’s great news for people who love variety in Minecraft, but it’s a little annoying for everyone else who would much prefer one good, finished pack to something that isn’t halfway done combined with a number of other unfinished additions. As for those textures which have been finished, just look to your inventory. Items and their icons all look different thanks to this resource pack, but the author still has a long way to go before this thing is finished and ready for widespread use.
