The Advance Pack might be labeled as a full-fledged resource pack, but it’s best to think of it as more of an add-on to other similar themed resource pack because, instead of giving the visuals of Minecraft a complete overhaul, it simply remedies the issues that exist in a lot of vanilla textures. However, while the pack is certainly best utilized in conjunction with another pack that has a similar art style, you can still use it on your own and see a lot of clearly visible improvements as you wander through the breathtaking and colorful world of Minecraft.
Moving onto specifics, the Advance Pack’s biggest highlights have to be its top tier paintings. Paintings are actually an integral part of the visuals of Minecraft but, in spite of this, a lot of resource pack creators either overlook them entirely or don’t focus that much on them. Aside from the solid paintings, though, you’ll see a lot of other great changes in the Advance Pack such as less noisy ore textures, smoother looking granite and diorite, better comparator and daylight sensor, realistic looking sandstone textures as well as a whole bunch of other stuff. The pack is basically what vanilla Minecraft would look like if its visual issues were remedied.
The textures of the Advance resource pack have been designed with a resolution of x16, and this is fitting because this is the resolution that most packs have, and this is why there’s a very low chance that there’ll be a resolution discrepancy if you use to utilize this pack alongside another one.
