Even though the Bow to Gun resource pack does convert the standard Minecraft bow into an impressive looking gun, that’s not all you get from this resource pack. Additionally, you’ll find that diamond chestplate has been replaced with a camo jacket, the diamond sword is switched out for a chainsaw, and stone swords look like big, nasty clubs rather than swords or anything even remotely sharp. The handful of visual changes here don’t do anything to change up the gameplay in Minecraft though – even though the bow becomes a gun it can still only fire a single shot at a time.
If you were looking for something to actually add guns with automatic fire, scopes and other accessories, you should check out gun mods for Minecraft. This is just a nice way to dress up ranged combat in the vanilla game. If you were trying to make some kind of steampunk world or something from the Colonial period, when guns only shot one bullet at a time, then you might really like the Bow to Gun resource pack. It’s definitely not a bad pack for what it does, though that is still rather limited as far as resource packs go. You get a few item edits here and not much more.
There are custom animations for the gun firing and the bullet flying, so that’s pretty nice. Strangely, bullets (arrows) will look like pistol magazines while you’re carrying them, but will look more like bullets when they are fired from the gun, or bow. Overall, the Bow to Gun pack gives Minecraft a more rugged look and feel, which you could use to great benefit with a number of mods and plugins.
