The majority of Minecraft’s mods are focused on the gameplay and are designed to improve how the game plays out in various ways but from time to time certain mods surface that are instead designed to improve the visual aspects of the game and the Chunk Animator mod is one of these. It focuses on the fact that when a Minecraft world is generated, it seems to just pop up out of thin air all of a sudden which doesn’t look appealing at all. The mod makes it so that the game world appears after a proper animation rather than appearing out of thin air.
The way the Chunk Animator mod does what it does is by making sure that chunks of the game world are rendered some place that isn’t visible to the player and then once they’ve been rendered they’re made to enter the player’s line of sight and form the game world. There are lots of different animations to choose from, and each one looks more appealing than the last. Entering into Minecraft definitely feels much more immersive after seeing the world generate before your very eyes through a fluid and smooth animation.
The Chunk Animator has a fairly solid amount of customization options as well that you can edit to control how the world is generated and how the chunks are supposed to animate themselves. You can do all the necessary customization through the configuration file that the mod comes with, and another great thing is that the mod supports Forge’s customization menu as well. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Chunk Animator mod is that it doesn’t have any major negative impact on the frame-rate of Minecraft even though on paper it might seem like a mod that would take a pretty significant toll on the FPS.
