Weather, Storms & Tornadoes Mod

Mods which affect the weather in Minecraft aren’t exactly popular. In vanilla Minecraft, it doesn’t matter if it’s snowing, raining or high and dry outside – the game is the exact same regardless of the weather effects around the player. In fact, the weather only seems to come into play when using other mods, like the Realistic Torches mod, where you can’t even light your torches if you’re standing out in the rain. Coros’ Localized Weather and Stormfronts mod doesn’t really change the weather in Minecraft – it just allows you to see storms coming from a distance so they don’t take you by surprise.

Again, this probably doesn’t matter if you aren’t using other mods that are dependent upon the weather to function. But it does add a layer of realism to Minecraft which just wasn’t there before. Naturally people should be able to look up at the sky and see if rain, storms or other inclement weather are coming. You just can’t do that in Minecraft normally though. Instead, rain, snow and other weather effects seem to just appear out of nowhere, with little regard for where the player is or the time of day. At least it only snows in biomes with snow on the ground.

Mod Showcase:

It’s not just that you can see weather coming from miles away either. Coros’ Localized Weather and Stormfronts mod also changes up clouds, replacing the blocky vanilla ones with clouds that actually shift and swirl like the real thing. Particle based rain and snow will actually move along with the direction of the wind, and yes, the mod adds wind to Minecraft too. There is even a weather machine block which can create localized storms, blizzards and other weather effects wherever you like, so the mod does technically give you some control over the weather. But you have to want to change it first.

Question? I have gotten this mod and it works but the only thing is that when you creat the tornados it dosnt create more like it use to do. Is there something I need to do?

This mod is absolutely AWESOME! just make sure if you install it on a custom server that you change the server.properties settings to reflect allow-flight=true or you will miss the ride up a tornado! also be sure to play with /weather2 help
