Dem Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.8

Dem Textures is a fairly new resource pack, but that doesn’t stop it from looking great and being an excellent fit for both modern and medieval themed worlds. There are few packs which can pull this off, mostly because older, worn blocks and textures don’t typically look modern at all, while newer, crisp and clean textures don’t really make people think of ancient castles. Dem Textures finds a nice middle ground between the two extremes and makes a great pack for either look. The 128x resolution probably has a good deal to do with this, since it allows for some highly detailed textures.

That resolution also means that not every Minecraft player is going to be able to play the game with Dem Textures enabled. It is a demanding resource pack, but still not as much of a hog on system memory and computing power as 256x and 512x packs. Also, Dem resource pack is fully compatible with Minecraft 1.8.x, which is good and bad depending on how you look at it. It won’t work alongside older mods or packs, but you also won’t run into any issues while playing the latest version of Minecraft and using this resource pack. Again, it’s good or bad, depending on your perspective.

Every block in Minecraft looks different with Dem Textures enabled, and it’s amazing how few resource packs can make this claim. People work on their packs for months, years maybe, and they still don’t manage to change the appearance of every single block in the game; Dem resource pack does. The author, demonkleenr, even managed to make this happen while working on the pack for a total of three months – nowhere near as long as other authors take to produce less impressive packs.

  1. It looks awesome with shaders, but without it, some blocks look the same. If you’re using shaders, go for it. If you are not, I don’t recommend it!
