Is there any resource pack for Minecraft that you would really call “fun”? Sure, there are some which look great, some which give the game a unique appearance it doesn’t normally have and some which even make the player feel like they’ve gone on a jaunt into the future, or the past, to times and places which are impossible to see today. But are any of these really “fun”? The Minecraft Fun Fest resource pack has fun right in the name, so it should be kind of entertaining as a rule, right? Well it doesn’t fail to make the game more enjoyable, so that’s something.
This resource pack does feature some pretty awesome textures, like the moon, which is right out of Soul Eater. That thing is terrifying to see for the first time, but it’s just the surface of the changes Minecraft Fun Fest makes. In perhaps the best way the issue of chopping down crops prematurely has ever been solved, potatoes, carrots and other foods which are fully grown will sprout eyes to designate they are ready to be harvested. This is kind of funny, since it’s like they’re looking at you, as if they know they’re ready to be chopped and they’re scared or something. Not exactly fun, but funky nonetheless.
The Minecraft Fun Fest resource pack also changes all the different painting images in the game. Art fanatics will enjoy decorating their homes with all new pictures, but that’s not the extent of the visual changes made by this pack. Ore blocks all look different, and that’s kind of a big deal when you consider how many other resource packs have ore which looks the same but with palette swaps for different gems or metals.
