Minecraft’s HxC-Core mod adds a number of new commands to Minecraft, which is great if you’re running your own server and want it to stand out, or you’re sticking with single player and want the game to go a bit easier. Besides all the new commands, this mod also allows for colored text in chat, as well as colored letters in names. You could even make names a rainbow of colors if you so wished, so this mod is good for brightening up Minecraft’s usually boring, white and gray chat. Not that any of this is bad, but there’s another feature which is even better; a feature which tops all of these.
Enchanting in Minecraft is kind of a big deal. It’s the way to spend all your acquired experience and if you’re planning on going to the End, it’s also the only way you’ll get gear strong enough to help you survive the Ender Dragon. Thanks to a bug in the game’s coding, enchanting isn’t as good as it could be. With the HxC-Core mod installed, the unseen array used for determining enchantments will be boosted up to 512, so you can get your hands on enchantments up to ID 511, which is what every avid enchanter out there has been looking for.
The HxC-Core mod stands out because it combines two different types of mods into one nice add on. It has cosmetic changes, like the colors in the chat, and it has actual changes to gameplay, which would be the increased enchanting efficacy. While this mod doesn’t add any new content to Minecraft, it does make existing end-game content easier to get; if you haven’t made it to the end of the game yet, this will effectively be new content for you. Well it’s definitely worth a look, at least.
