If you really love Minecraft, you probably want to play it even when you aren’t at home on your computer. Some games are like this and Minecraft is fairly addictive, so it would be no surprise at all if there were some real die-hard enthusiasts out there. With the Second Screen mod, you can use your mobile device or smart phone to interact with your Minecraft world in unique ways, allowing you to play on your world even when you aren’t at home on your computer. How it all works is very technical, plus the mod does have some limitations.
Basically, the Second Screen mod lets you use your mobile device to show information about your Minecraft world, which can be reviewed whenever you have a free minute. It will list online players, along with the message of the day on a server, but that’s just the start. It also provides more detailed information, like the hunger levels of those online players, and the weather conditions and time in the game. Probably the most impressive feature is the marking, which allows you to physically mark a lever, button or other object in Minecraft and then interact with it over your phone.
This can allow you to arm and disarm home security systems with the push of a button, making Minecraft feel a little bit more like real life. It also lets you look through your inventory on your phone, for whatever reason you might want to do that. Because you aren’t actually logged into your Minecraft world with a character, there are some bugs with chunks updating or failing to update, and this mod is still in development. However, if you’re looking for more control over your Minecraft experience even when you aren’t able to play, the Second Screen mod is probably the best mod of its kind around today.
