SpaceCubeCraft Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.8

For Minecraft players who want more realism from their favorite game about farming, mining and roaming the world, the SpaceCubeCraft resource pack is definitely worth a look. Despite the name, there’s nothing really spacey about it – except of course for the backdrop up in the sky. During the evenings, players will see far-off planets and other features as if they were much closer, along with the northern lights, or aurora borealis, and a number of other visual treats. In this one, single way, the pack is very much about outer space. The textures tell a different tale than this, though.

Actually, that’s not true. You’ll also notice there are some changes to the GUI which give you a glimpse of outer space even when you’re doing mundane tasks like crafting torches or cooking up some food. The blocks themselves look more or less like they always did in Minecraft. Pumpkins are still pumpkins and not some scary futuristic or alien plant. Trees look the same, along with the apples which fall from them, which actually look amazing by the way. Some rounding of textures has been used to produce visual effects which border on full 3D, which is no surprise considering the resolution.

SpaceCubeCraft weighs in at 256x, which makes it one of the more demanding resource packs out there. Only 512x are more detailed and demanding on your graphics processor, so not everyone is going to be able to enjoy this resource pack. That’s a shame too, because it’s immediately clear that the author put a lot of work into making this resource pack look as good as it does. One last important point is, you must use MCPatcher and patch Minecraft to have Better Skies, or this work won’t be seen.
