The Additional Blocks Mod for Minecraft 1.8

If you’re a fan of building in Minecraft and you just wish you had more blocks with which to make your dreams a reality, The Additional Blocks Mod would probably make you one very happy camper. Overall this mod adds something like 100+ decorative building blocks to Minecraft, though these all tend to look more or less like their original source blocks. Snow, red smooth sandstone, sandstone, quartz, diorite, andesite, granite, stone bricks and clay bricks are the base blocks, and each of these 9 blocks gets 12 new variants to craft and build with, so the number is actually a bit higher than 100 total.

The only bad thing about The Additional Blocks Mod is that the new designs aren’t unique to any type of block. Each of the nine base blocks has 12 new designs, but the designs are the same whether you’re working with andesite, sandstone or stone bricks, for example. That’s not to say the blocks don’t look good though. Can you imagine how much longer it would have taken to release this mod if every additional block had its own unique design? That would be like totally remaking Minecraft – not that there aren’t mods which do exactly that.

One nice thing about The Additional Blocks Mod is the fact you don’t get any overpowered equipment, super-powered enemies or other simply broken items, mobs or mechanics. The mod is balanced in what it does, which is allowing players a higher degree of freedom and diversity when building the things their hearts desire. One cool feature is that each of these unique block designs requires the player to craft the blocks using different recipes at a work bench. It will probably take some time to learn all 12 of the recipes, so set some time aside to practice with this mod if you plan to use it.

I really love this mod, but if possible, can you have it so where the mod has texture pack support? I use Faithful, and when I see 16×16 pixels it doesn’t really blend in with the 32×32 textures. So I’m just hoping you can make it so that it’s compatible with texture/resource packs! Other than that, I love it!

Love the mod its a great idea 🙂 .. The only problem I’m having is that the new blocks insta break, even with a bare hand. This makes it difficult at times to build with out accidentally breaking them. Other then that its awesome.
