With a low 32x resolution, The End is Extremely Nigh: Revolution is a resource pack that almost anyone playing Minecraft can install and use to change the appearance of their world and the things in it. With a name like that, it should come as no surprise that many of the textures throughout this pack look beaten and battered, or that the whole package has a sort of fatalistic look and feel to it that will make most users feel a sense of desperation coming at them from their environment. The important thing to remember is that this pack isn’t about the end of the world.
Rather, The End is Extremely Nigh: Revolution is about the world right as it’s circling the drain, so to speak, with some awful catastrophe in sight but still waiting to come and end everything. That makes this pack different from all of the Fallout-themed packs out there, which focus on the world after it was already destroyed by atomic war. Just think of this as a pre-apocalyptic pack, in contrast to all of the post-apocalyptic packs which can be found online. That’s probably the best way to look at it.
You’ll notice that many of the icons for items, especially weapons, have been turned into things that don’t look like they’d ever appear in Minecraft. For instance, there’s a sword that looks like a chainsaw, and the wooden shovel has been replaced with what appears to be a golden chalice. Apparently when the world is about to end, gold really isn’t worth much. But then maybe it doesn’t have to end after all? Maybe you can be the one building the last holdout for humanity in your Minecraft world.
