If you’ve ever wished for a Minecraft world where you could freeze to death, then you’ll want to check out the Ticking Chill map. While it is essentially a CTM and survival map, the main gimmick to it is that the player can actually die due to exposure. You will need to spend a bit of time near fire sources, or carry fire with you to deploy as needed, if you want any chance of making it to the end of this map. If you don’t, negative effects like slowness will continue to stack up on you until the final effect, which is your death. This map provides a survival experience like no other in Minecraft.
Like other CTM (create the monument) maps, Ticking Chill has players searching for a number of wool blocks hidden away in chests throughout the world. While you could probably just get the same wool from killing sheep, that would be defeating the purpose of the map – it sure isn’t for people with short attention spans or those who can’t follow simple rules. There are two other objectives to complete as well, and overall Ticking Chill should take 2 to 4 hours to run from start to finish, making it a great way to kill an afternoon.
