The Union Islands map is unique in that it’s one of the few maps featuring island chains which also have more land than water on the map. That doesn’t mean you won’t be able to boat around or travel between islands over the water though. There are a number of bridges and other paths for making the trip by land though, and that seems to be the encouraged mode of transportation here. The map is still relatively new too and nowhere near completion. Just a month ago, the owner claimed it was between 5 and 10% finished. With that in mind, remember you are using an unfinished product when playing this.
There are some bugs. There are some issues with the flow of travel on the map. These are things which will be fixed in the future, however. The Union Islands are separated into five distinctive, interconnected islands – Montana, Nordwestlich, Orleans, Victoria and Dramhail. Some of the islands have a more urban or agrarian look to them but in general, the makeup of each is about 30% urban, 30% rural and 40% natural terrain. Just about everything was placed by hand though, so what’s really natural about that? Anyhow, the Union Islands map is massive, with lots of places to explore and build your home.
