If you want a Minecraft map that lets you feel like you’re in the middle of a vast wilderness rather than stuck in some limited space, you might really like Varth Mountains map. The map is fairly large and like the name suggests, also packed with mountains and some extreme elevations on top of that. Created using World Machine and World Painter, this highly customized map features terrain unlike any you would normally find in Minecraft. The world simply looks more realistic. It’s something you have to see for yourself to really understand though, unless you’ve used those tools in the past.
In fact, all the terrain in Varth Mountains is customized, except for the randomly placed trees. There are no special quests, missions or monuments to build here, so if you’re looking for something with a lot of direction, you’ll want to avoid this map. As for others who want a big world to get out and explore, this is perfect for that. With all of the mountains and cave systems, some of which run down to the bottom of the world, you don’t even need to build a home – you can just move into the earth itself. Maps like Varth Mountains present a lot of possibilities, and that’s what makes them fun.
