At a glance, you could probably figure out what the Zombie Sunscreen mod does to Minecraft. It’s a simple mod, affecting only two monsters and adding no new content to the game, so it’s a great mod for first timers to try, a simple thing that will build confidence and help them towards more complicated modding down the line. Zombie Sunscreen makes zombies and skeletons immune to sunlight – they won’t burn, even at high noon, regardless of whether there is tree cover overhead or if they happen to be wearing a helmet. This makes Minecraft a bit more difficult for some obvious reasons.
Usually, sleeping and waiting for morning would be enough to clear hostile mobs from around your home and give you a chance to go outside without getting mauled by zombies and skeletons. However, since they won’t burn, they’ll be waiting there for you instead of dead and gone. Although zombies and skeletons can survive during the day, the spawning conditions of both remain unchanged. Unless they have a dark space to spawn during the day, or the sun is down and evening has fallen, the mobs won’t spawn in the first place.
That’s all there is to it. The Zombie Sunscreen mod doesn’t add new monsters or items to Minecraft, so you don’t need to worry about any compatibility issues with other installed mods. There are literally no known bugs to the mod either, probably because the changes it makes to Minecraft are so basic. If cutting through hordes of the living dead during the night isn’t enough for you, invite them to a daytime sortie with this mod. It’s not really useful for getting more mobs or drops – just making the existing mobs more resilient. Because of its simplicity, you can just drop this into your mods folder and it will start working.
