It’s hard to say what if anything adding faces to food items does to make them more fun or funny, but Maxtgps1, the author behind the Funny Food resource pack, seems to think the correlation between the two is a simple one. Every standard food item in Minecraft, from the lowly loaf of bread to steaks, chops and cooked fish now features a big, smiling face in its icon. Even items which normally don’t have a face, like cakes, are made to look a little less edible and a little more like another person. This produces a freaky feeling for some players, who could swear that cookie they just munched was talking to them.
Because the Funny Food resource pack is from an author with a lot of experience making packs, it’s a pretty stable change to Minecraft. There were no noticeable bugs and it didn’t cause any crashes, glitches or other unwanted performance, so it’s a perfect pack in that sense. This resource pack is all visual changes too – there are no custom sound bites or other files to worry about. Because it’s simple and easy to install and use, Funny Food gets another good mark. There are so many resource packs which get marred by poor function that this one is like a breath of fresh air.
Players who fool around with the Funny Food pack for long enough will realize only the food items in Minecraft get changes with the pack. Every other texture is as vanilla as a bowl of ice cream. Because nothing else is changed, Funny Food manages to keep its resolution at a low and manageable 16x. Anyone could use this pack, but whether or not they would want to is another thing.
