The standard loading screen in Minecraft is pretty bland. It’s literally just a couple of white words in the middle of a big, gray box with nothing going on until chunks start to render and the game moves from loading screen to actual gameplay. The Better Loading Screen mod changes this. Designed to work with Forge, this mod is also relatively easy to install without actually using Forge to perform the process. You can simply drag it from your downloads folder, or wherever it might be, into your Minecraft mods folder. It should work fine after that thanks to simple, efficient design.
Instead of a couple white words on a washed out background, the Better Loading Screen mod actually tells you what Minecraft is loading as the game gets ready to start. It keeps track of Minecraft itself, along with any mods of resource packs you might have installed which also need to be loaded before the game can begin. This mod actually helps you to identify problem packs and mods which really slow down your loading times, so you can remove those from your queue if you want to speed up your loads. It’s a surprisingly useful mod despite how little it does to affect gameplay.
That’s really all you’re going to get from the Better Loading Screen mod. It doesn’t introduce any new weapons, armor, items or mobs to Minecraft – it just makes the loading screen more intuitive and less of an eyesore to watch while you wait for your game to begin. One important thing to note is that if you’re using the 1.8 version of Better Loading Screen you will also need to have the AlexIILLib mod installed, as that’s kind of a hub mod for this author’s work. Strangely enough you can skip this step if you’re using the older 1.7.1 version of the mod instead.
