Have you ever thought that Minecraft looked just perfect as it is, but that it could look better if the vanilla textures were just sharper and clearer? The Default Plus resource pack does exactly this. It’s one of those faithful resource packs that don’t really change the textures from normal Minecraft, but do manage to make them look better by adjusting things like shading, colors or in this case, the sharpness of the textures. Surprisingly, that extra definition won’t make your computer run any harder to display – Default Plus has the same 16x resolution as vanilla Minecraft and can be used by practically anyone.
Basically, Default Plus does something to improve the repetition of blocks, so you can get several instances of the same block that look slightly different from each other. This allows for fields of dirt, mountains of stone and deserts full of sand where it isn’t just the same, single texture repeating over and over again as far as the eye can see. This added bit of variety is nice, and since that’s basically all the Default Plus resource pack does, there isn’t anything bad to say about it. Perhaps it doesn’t do enough to upgrade Minecraft’s textures, but that’s not a problem if you like the vanilla look anyhow.
Perhaps the best part about the Default Plus resource pack is the fact it is a finished work. There are no planned updates for the future and as long as you’re using Minecraft 1.8.x when you play, you should get a significantly improved visual experience while playing. This is a small, simple resource pack that loads fast and makes Minecraft look a lot better. With all of that, what’s not to like?
