Smoothic is a resource pack which does what the name might suggest – it smoothens textures throughout Minecraft, making the world look much more realistic and far less like a stack of legos in some kid’s sandbox. Literally every single texture in the game gets an upgrade with Smoothic, from pumpkins to player characters, water, lava and every construction block one can think of. It even makes enemies look more menacing by giving them more believable shapes. Smoothic is one of the few resource packs which more or less demand a decent shader mod be installed at the same time.
Specifically, something which allows for smooth lighting and reflections off the surface of water would be ideal for Smoothic. The textures just look so good that most players enjoy seeing them doubled if they settle down by a pond. Most resource packs change a good deal of Minecraft but leave things like trees, grass or dirt to stay the exact same. Smoothic doesn’t do this. Even friendly villagers and animals like cows, chickens and pigs all look better than normal, and usually resource packs don’t manage to change these models if they do a good job of changing everything else.
Smoothic effectively looks like something made from cell-shading. There are lots of bright, bold pastel colors and it’s hard to find even a single texture that looks dark or gritty. This resource pack is perfect for making some fantasy worlds but it might not be the best option if you’re looking to make something gritty, dark and frightening, like an underground prison escape map or a haunted castle. Also, every biome benefits from Smoothic; the texture upgrades are not just limited to old or new biomes, or small or large ones.
