The Fake Ores 2 mod is the second edition of the mod from the same author, elias54. It’s fairly similar to the first one, so if you’ve already tried that then you understand what you’re getting yourself into. For those who don’t know, this is one fantastic mod. Fake Ores 2 introduces a number of new, fake ores to Minecraft. These look just like the normal coal, iron, gold and other ore blocks, but when you break them they don’t drop valuables. Instead they spawn ore monsters based on the type of ore broken. These can be pretty powerful.
Those ore monsters are specific to the type of ore being broken as well, with diamond mobs being some of the strongest and coal mobs being some of the weakest. If you manage to kill them, they might drop items you can use to create the ore boss, which is the strongest monster added to Minecraft by the Fake Ores 2 mod. You need the special drops from each of the fake ores to make the summoning item, so it’s not something you can do as soon as you start a new Minecraft world. The boss itself drops a trophy cup if you manage to beat it.
You aren’t alone in this fight against the earth, however. There are anti ore blocks which you can use to create a special sword, which is just like a wooden sword in all respects, except it deals massive amounts of damage to the ore mobs and the ore boss – more than enchanted diamond weapons, even. It’s highly recommended you make one of these special swords before you try taking on the boss though it’s still possible to beat it and all of its minions using standard Minecraft equipment. The Fake Ores 2 mod is lots of fun; that’s a fact.
