Pig Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.8

The Pig Pack is a resource pack designed just for Minecraft 1.8, though there does appear to be earlier versions which are applicable to Minecraft 1.7 instead. If you’re looking for a pack which addresses the most common blocks in the game first, you’ll probably really like this one. It seems to focus on things like cobblestone, dirt, bricks and other common blocks, where the majority of the good work which went into this resource pack shines through clearly. It actually began with these blocks, as the author was tired of looking at the same old boring textures while playing Minecraft.

Perhaps that’s why they seem to have much of the focus in the Pig resource pack. However, don’t take this to mean the pack isn’t thorough, or that it doesn’t present an overall theme through its textures. That just wouldn’t be true. You’ll notice many more pigs and pig-related textures throughout Minecraft with this pack installed, naturally. Villagers are made to look like friendly pig men, many paintings have been replaced with art containing pigs and even the iron golem has been turned into some sort of steampunkish walking pig monster. It’s really a sight to see the first time you spot it.

The Pig resource pack isn’t all about pigs though, even if they pop up everywhere and the word “Pig” is plastered right into the name. For instance, the End looks more like a frozen wasteland than the dark, dismal space it was made to be. Even the dragon has a cold, cobalt color to it, through snowballs will still do damage like normal when hurled at the beast. If you happen to look up at the sky in the middle of the night, you’ll see something else pretty amazing too.
