SaltyMod is a pretty creative mod that adds salt to the Minecraft game world. It might not seem like the most feature filled mod out there but it’s definitely a mod that you should consider adding to your Minecraft client because salt actually brings a lot of depth to the game and can be used for a variety of different tasks for example pickling food and even getting rid of various creatures. The mod has been out for half a year now and in this time frame it has been downloaded around 4,600 times which doesn’t necessarily make it the most popular mod out there but it’s still quite useful nonetheless.
Alongside the simple salt ore, SaltyMod Mod implements a whole bunch of other salt-related items into the game as well for example the salt block, the cracked salt block, salt crystals, salt lamp, salt slab and a whole bunch of other salt items that you can utilize in a variety of different ways. The mod also features a salt extractor that makes the whole process of acquiring salt a much simpler and easier one so you won’t need through go through countless hours of tedious mining just to get your hands on some of it.
As mentioned before, the salt from the SaltyMod Mod can be used to pickle food but it’s worth remembering that each specific type of food has its own salt requirements. Raw fish requires three pinches of salt, friend foods require a single pinch of salt. Salt can even be used to neutralize rotten flesh but bear in mind that the process of neutralization uses up quite a bit of salt. Another great feature of this mod is that the salt crystals can be used to instantly kill slugs and witches with a single blow which is quite convenient for obvious reasons.
Mod adds the following blocks:
- Salt Ore
- Block Of Salt & Cracked Block Of Salt
- Chiseled Salt Block
- Pillar Salt Block, Short Pillar Salt Block & Salt Chapiter
- Salt Brick, Cracked Salt Brick & Chiseled Salt Brick
- Salt Lamp
- Salt Slab
- Salt Brick Slab

- Salt Lake Bottom (Stone & Dirt)
