The Asylum is a very high-quality horror map that’s sure to keep people engaged with its well-designed gameplay, gripping visuals and, of course, the captivating plot that’ll have you hooked from start to finish. It’s worth pointing out that this is definitely one of the spookier horror maps out there, so it’s not for the faint hearted. It has a few bugs and issues here and there like players getting stuck in cauldrons or the lack of direction in certain areas but overall it’s very well crafted and is sure to keep players entertained.
In The Asylum, you play the role of a young man who was heading back home from a friend’s house but on your way back lightning struck your car due to which you ended up suffering a devastating crash. As you crawl out of the wreckage, you see a tunnel at the end of which there’s a light. You decide to follow this tunnel but at the end of it, there’s only one building with a sign saying ‘Chartham Asylum’. You decide to head into this strange place hoping to find a phone that you can use to contact help, but little do you know that this mysterious place is home to many strange and creepy things.
It’s worth mentioning that the efforts of various different developers have gone into making The Asylum a reality. Overall it’s easily one of the higher quality horror maps available that’s close to perfection but is held back because of few issues like the lack of direction in certain areas and a bunch of missing textures. The map was released roughly one and a half month ago and since then it has been downloaded over 15,000 times which is highly impressive and is a testament to its quality.
