Xenocontendi Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.8

If you’re looking for smooth textures with a natural feel to them, you might like the Xenocontendi resource pack by Disethas. Looking up either the name of the pack or the author should be enough to get you in touch with the website where the pack is hosted. This pack has a major focus on the use of different colors to create pseudo 3D effects without actually using 3D textures. Smart use of shading and different tones of the same color on blocks actually do a good job of making the various blocks in Minecraft seem to pop right off the screen.

The best part about Xenocontendi is that even though it improves colors and makes many Minecraft blocks look different, it doesn’t totally change them into something new. That is, if you make a building that looks good using Xenocontendi, it will still look good if you turn the resource pack off and go back to using vanilla Minecraft textures. The opposite is also true, so if you wonder how good Xenocontendi really looks, try turning it on in a world where you’re already done a lot of significant construction. This will tell you whether you like the pack or not better than any review.

There are several custom sound files in the Xenocontendi resource pack as well. These aren’t really anything special, but they do sound nice when put side by side with the vanilla sounds. It’s just an extra bit of variety, and that never hurt anyone. To get the best experience with this pack, you’ll want Optifine or MCPatcher installed as well, so you can get connected textures and avoid some graphics issues.
