Despite its low 16x resolution, the ZeCraft resource pack aims to make Minecraft look like a much different game. Of course, it’s only out to change the visual aspects – Minecraft plays the same as it normally does. But many of the blocks look like they’ve been painted over with a slightly lighter shade of their usual color, in a kind of glossy paint. This is because many blocks and surfaces appear to be shiny or have a reflective sheen to them that plays with any incoming light. This is especially evident if you’re using a shader pack, but you can see it in vanilla Minecraft too.
You’ll see many common textures with more definition than they have in vanilla Minecraft. Simple sand looks especially nice and the extra shades of green in grass blocks make the grass look more realistic and believable than normal. These are just a couple of the changes which have already been made in the ZeCraft resource pack, but more is planned for the future. This is an unfinished pack and still in development, so it’s kind of hard to review it accurately. From what can be seen so far though, ZeCraft looks like it will be a solid addition for Minecraft.
Trees are also one of the few objects which have been redrawn using the updated style of ZeCraft. They look great, especially the laves on them which have spaces between them and look like actual leaves on real trees rather than blocky, cubic chunks of green with bits of black paint mixed into them. It’s not much to look at yet, but this will probably be a very nice 16x resource pack when it’s finally finished.
