The Cobblegrass resource pack doesn’t actually turn grass into cobblestone or make cobblestone look like grass. What it does is add a number of new textures to Minecraft while upgrading some existing vanilla ones where applicable. However, the low 16x resolution really doesn’t look very good here. Many resource packs manage to look good despite their inherently low resolutions, but textures in Cobblegrass tend to look blurry, muddy or just plain ugly. This happens unfortunately often in this pack too. If you want a pack that makes Minecraft look better than normal, be wary of this one.
On the other hand, if you just want Minecraft to look different, the Cobblegrass resource pack could be exactly what you’re looking for. It certainly does make Minecraft look like a different game. Ores, environmental textures, construction blocks and mobs all have updated textures. Perhaps the most noticeable is that of the iron golem, which has been reskinned to look like a big, buff villager rather than an iron construct. This doesn’t’ change the recipe for crafting the golem, but you might be surprised at what you get if you’re expecting to see your normal, big-nosed iron man pop up after construction.
Because Cobblegrass is nearly finished, there aren’t many more updates planned for the future of this resource pack. Again, this is unfortunate, because there are some textures in Cobblegrass which really stand out, and not in a good way. For instance, all the stained clay blocks have solid colors to them – they look like blocks of wool rather than bits of gray clay with a tinge of color put into the mix. If little things like this don’t tend to bother you, you should be fine. Otherwise you might find this pack annoying.
