Even though the combat is relatively simple, PvP is still a fun aspect of Minecraft and some players connect to servers solely for the chance to kill each other. Halo Minecraft Wars is a resource pack which converts standard Minecraft worlds into places which look like they belong in the hit series of Xbox titles, Halo. That alone makes Halo Minecraft Wars a perfect fit for PvP servers, but if you add in a mod with extra weapons like guns and grenades you’ve got a combat experience which is far above and beyond what you get from Minecraft normally.
Granted, Halo Minecraft Wars is only a 32x resource pack, so the textures aren’t as great as they possibly could be. That smaller resolution means more people can use the resource pack though, and Halo Minecraft Wars resource pack still manages to change the game substantially. There are changes made to the player’s appearance, as well as the look of armor, weapons, paintings, environmental blocks, the game font, the interface when using chests, furnaces, work benches and villagers, and much more. The only problem is the mod only works with versions of Minecraft up to 1.6. Being at 1.8.1 now, it would be next to impossible to get this to work with the current version of the game.
The GUI update is really one of the better parts of this mod. The bold blue and black lines behind item boxes make it much easier to tell the number of a particular item being carried. There have been at least 21 updates since the resource pack appeared about two years ago and this is one great looking addition to Minecraft. As long as you don’t expect it to look as good as the Halo games, this pack does a great job.

Resource packs always work with every version of minecraft. The game just replaces untextured blocks with the default texture. Learn your stuff if you are going to write reviews.
