Old Guns Mod for Minecraft 1.8.8/1.8

The Old Guns mod adds a number of single-shot firearms to Minecraft, including old flintlock weapons like blunderbusses, which were some of the earliest forms of shotguns in history. There are a number of matchlock and flintlock weapons to craft and use, and while many of them have slow rates of fire that make them difficult to depend on in a tense battle situation, those same guns are also excellent for fighting from long ranges and dropping enemies before they can get to you. This is kind of funny too, considering those old guns were often inaccurate beyond 50 paces.

Because these old guns are only single action weapons, they must be manually reloaded after each shot is fired. You could technically use them to bash players or monsters that get too close, but unlike real guns where the stock could do some damage to a target, hitting mobs with these weapons is just like punching them and therefore ineffective. The primitive flintlock and matchlock weapons will also malfunction in and around water, either refusing to fire altogether in the rain or waist-deep water or misfiring instead. The Old Guns mod does include a few nice pieces of weaponry though.

For one, the caplock revolvers work even under bad weather conditions, and like the name suggests, they are revolvers – they can fire multiple times before the chambers are emptied and reloaded. There are even stationary cannons which make for great home defense systems, allowing you to lob explosive balls at players and monsters from a considerable distance. These can be turned to face other directions and even picked up and moved after being placed, sort of like the Engineer’s sentry gun and other tools in Team Fortress 2. If you’re looking to make a server full of guns, this mod might be for you.

How to install Old Guns Mod?

1. Download the mod!
2. When you haven’t installed Minecraft Forge yet, download and install it.
3. Unzip the downloaded zip and move the jar files into the mods folder.
4. Have fun!
