Many custom survival maps feature a number of dangers for players to overcome, but the lack of direction can make them boring and quickly. The Underground 2 map is not like this. With a list of several different challenges accompanying the map itself, players are treated to a hand-made work of art – and a guide for playing through it on top of that. Of course, you won’t get anything extra for completing the objectives, but actually having objectives in the first place gives you something more to work towards than just building your thousands little shack in Minecraft.

If collecting clay, sand and resources doesn’t sound too exciting to you, you’re in luck. The Underground features plenty of baddies and opportunities to get into trouble. With a base area if 1,000 x 1,000 blocks, you still shouldn’t feel closed in even with the fact your entire game will be played below the earth. No surface access and no sunlight means you’ll need to incorporate torches, glowstone and other light sources into any farms you build. These will be absolutely necessary since mobs like cows, chickens and pigs won’t spawn below the ground. Everything else you need to survive can be found, however.
