Cobalt is a fairly old Minecraft mod that’s actually been out for more than four years at this point but, even though the mod has been out for so long, it’s always flown under the radar as it’s only sitting at just over 5000 downloads even in spite of the massive amount of time since its release. The lack of popularity is by no means an indicator of this mod’s quality, though, because Cobalt is actually quite well crafted and it’s been very well maintained over the years thereby making it worth any player’s while.
Features and Functionality
The core functionality of the Cobalt mod is, of course, the fact that it adds a new ore to the game with the same name and this ore, once you’ve gotten your hands on the ore, you’ll be able to use it to make items of many different kinds. What makes the Cobalt mod truly worthwhile, though, is the fact that it isn’t limited to just the ore but actually has a variety other features as well such as five different biomes and two new dimensions for players to explore. The biomes and dimensions are quite well designed and they definitely add a lot of depth to the overall gameplay experience for players.
Compatibility and Technical Aspects
Cobalt is available for versions 1.17, 1.11 and 1.12 of Minecraft but it’s important to highlight that only the 1.12 variant of this mod is receiving the latest updates so, if you want to enjoy the latest version of the mod, you’ll need to have Minecraft 1.12 installed.
Overall, while Cobalt might not seem like that feature packed of a mod at first sight, there’s actually a lot more to it than initially meets the eye and this is why it comes highly recommended from us.
