If you’re looking for a Minecraft map that contains a good scare or two, you’ll want to check out the Crypt Crawler map, which you could probably find in video reviews all over Youtube if you wish. It’s not all scares though – because you actually get weapons, it’s really more of a hack and slash crawl through a dungeon than some creepy, psychological thriller in the theme of Silent Hill. In fact, killing monsters will be instrumental to your success on the map. Mobs drop experience as always, but they also have loot drops on this map, including beefed-up weapons, armor, and other useful items.

There are shops you will find throughout the crypt too, so you’ll definitely want to save as much XP as you can since that’s what gets used as currency here. Everything culminates in a huge boss battle at the end of the dungeon, so the Crypt Crawler map is essentially like any old Dungeons and Dragons module in that it presents a short but intense bit of adventure for the player. Unlike those old tabletop RPGs, you won’t be getting any help on the Crypt Crawler map, which was designed specifically for single player adventures only.
