In Minecraft, it’s kind of hard to see how any simplistic pack could also feature 3D textures that pop off the screen for the player. However, someone has managed to tie these two things together with the Simplistic resource pack. To be fair, some of the textures actually look like their vanilla counterparts except rolled 90 degrees to the right or left, so the face of the block appears to be something new. You’ll find this right away in cobblestone. Other blocks, especially the various types of bricks, stone bricks and nether bricks, are significantly improved.
Although it would be wrong to call this a cell shaded pack, there are some textures which appear to be cell shaded, including most of the hostile mobs like the creeper, spider and zombie. It seems that mob textures in general feature a limited color palette and a kind of glossy surface that makes them stand out, even in the middle of the night when it’s dark outside. This actually makes the Simplistic (and 3D Textures) pack good for players who like to spot potential threats from far away – it really is hard for those monsters to hide when they’re so easy to see.
The main focus of this resource pack happens to be mobs, so it’s no surprise their textures are the ones which appear to be the most radically changed. The bulk of other changes can be seen in armor items, especially when they are worn by a player. There are a handful of blocks which have been changed, but they really aren’t much when compared to the mobs and armor. Last but not least, the low 32x resolution lets most players use Simplistic (and 3D Textures) without any issues.
