Considering the fact this pack is named Ancient Egypt you could probably figure out what this resource pack is going to look like before you see it. What you might not expect is how good the pack actually looks. Many of the textures feature fine engravings and symbols that look to be hieroglyphics, especially when talking about varieties of sandstone bricks and blocks. You’ll quickly notice that torches are also much larger than normal and seem to take up more space, though you can still walk through them like normal. This is the definitive resource pack if you’re looking for an Egypt experience.
Part of this is because of all the replacement art. All the classic pictures are switched out for images which are iconic and Egyptian; the exaggerated eyes, mummies and pharaohs which were all part of their art. It’s perfect for decorating the inside of a home or maybe even a pyramid if you’re feeling like going all out with the Egyptian theme. Ancient Egypt also comes with a special hieroglyphic font that will turn all the letters in your words into the symbols the ancient Egyptians used for their language. This can be turned off in the config file too, which is nice because it will be very confusing at first.
The Ancient Egypt resource pack does require a little something extra to make it work. If you don’t install it using the HD Texture Fix then the recolored water won’t render correctly and you’ll have your standard Minecraft water instead. Besides that, you don’t need any special pack or mod loaders to get the most out of Ancient Egypt. This is one pack which succeeds at what it aims to do, so it might be worth reviewing for players looking to make their own resource packs.
