Some Minecraft maps are more about appearance than any actual content. This doesn’t necessarily make them bad maps, but they can become boring quickly once the exploration is finished and players begin looking for something more. Castle Lividus is a map like this, featuring a humongous and expansive courthouse, castle, marina and more. It can take days to scan everything going solo, or several hours with a few friends. However, you do it though; you soon come to realize many of the buildings have little work done on their interiors – if they have any interior at all.
You’ll find chests and other item storage, but you’ll also find they’re empty, with nothing at all in them. While the Castle Lividus map would be perfect as the backdrop for an online server when used alongside a number of mods to populate the place with NPCs, as it stands now, there’s just not enough to do to keep the map interesting. It was also designed specifically for Minecraft 1.7.10, though it still works with 1.8 and up. Newer versions of Minecraft will spawn a sea temple under the marina, which can actually make Castle Lividus more fun to play if you’ve never seen one before.
