If there’s one single word you could use to describe the Coola1’s resource pack, it would be “bright”. Many of the textures in Minecraft, even simple ones which normally wouldn’t be bright anyhow such as stone, are made to look almost too bright. Maybe this was done by adjusting contrast on the author’s end, since even when you turn the brightness option down all of the very bold very visible textures remain just so. It’s going to be a shock the first time you see it, that’s for sure. Because of that brightness giving an unfair amount of vision in underground caverns and other places, using this pack is almost cheating.
Even in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, with no lighting elements like torches or glowstone to brighten up the environment, you can still see perfectly fine for many chunks in every direction. But the brightness of Coola1’s resource pack doesn’t just extend to Minecraft’s overworld. Once you move to the Nether you’ll wonder how the place was ever dark on the previous visits – the lava is absolutely loud and even darker textures like netherrack and soul sand look as if they have some kind of inner luminosity struggling to escape.
This is a relatively new resource pack, uploaded less than 3 months before the time of this review. It’s still getting regular updates from the author and yes, not all of the textures have been finished. Those which have been changed again look amazingly bright and clear, almost to an unnatural degree. Coola1’s resource pack is going to be one of those hit or miss things for players; they’ll love it or hate it and there’s very little room in between these two extremes for this pack.
