It’s rare to see a Minecraft map which emulates the gameplay of games like Super Smash Brothers without actually using the same game name as a tag for the map. The Fyrecracker map puts 2 to 10 players against each other in a battle royale sort of setting, where everyone exists on a plot of land and the goal is to knock people off the edge, sending them careening to the world below and an awful death. It’s pretty standard as far as these arena type maps go, but Fyrecracker has a few unique points which add a good deal of replay value as well.
For one, about one out of every ten games you play, you’ll get a special code which you can use to unlock additional power-ups, items or even different maps. This is more than enough to keep some players coming back for more and more while they wait for access to the extra bits. Second, everyone gets a ranged weapon which can be used to attack from afar – not so on other Smash style maps. Lastly, random players on the Fyrecracker map will get fyrecrackers on a set timer. These destroy a good deal of the map and send everyone nearby flying, ensuring games don’t last too long.
