Some mods are relatively simple, adding just a block or two, which may or may not have any special function in Minecraft. Giacomo’s Foundry mod is one of these, but the foundry block certainly does provide a useful function, there’s no doubt about that. Basically, the foundry block is used as a kind of recycling center for a number of other items. Anything built using those recycled materials can then be placed back into the foundry at a later time to retrieve those recycled materials. Any new materials used to create the recycled item in the first place will be lost to this process however.
By recycling and repeating the process again, you can essentially create tools that effectively last forever. Whenever they are about to break, you simply put them back into the foundry block to get the materials back. Remaking the item after that is a breeze and then you’ve got a brand new tool, even if it’s made from dirty old materials. Giacomo’s Foundry mod is excellent for players who are attempting to survive on a small island with limited resources, or for those who simply want to extend the lives of their tools and get more work out of each and every one.
Players might experience a couple unexpected surprises when recycling their items using Giacomo’s Foundry mod. For instance, anything which is put into the foundry which also contained a fuel source like lava, wood or coal is apt to start a fire, and a bad one too, which will spread quickly from the foundry and level a house in minutes. Likewise, any objects containing gunpowder should never be put into the foundry block, as they might explode much like a block of TNT. This could literally kill you, and if you’re playing on Hardcore mode, it would be a horrible way to go.
