Ores and Coin Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.6.2

Mining has always been a big part of Minecraft – it’s right in the name, after all. But once you’ve explored enough caves and dug out enough coal, iron, gold and other materials, that aspect of the game can get pretty boring. The Ores and Coins Mod revamps mining by adding about a dozen new types of ores, which can all be melted down into individual ingots and used to create a number of different tools, equipment and other items. For players who want more mining in their Minecraft experience, it’s tough to do any better than this mod.

While it does add a wide variety of new ores and items to Minecraft, the Ores and Coins Mod never really did get finished. There was supposed to be a merchant NPC added which would allow players to turn mined ores and gems into other ores and gems they may not be able to find as easily, but because this was so buggy, it was removed from the mod entirely. This was a large project that never quite got finished, but it does still (mostly) work with versions of Minecraft up to 1.6.4, so if you’re looking for something new and don’t mind playing under an older client, give this one a try.
