However, pigs are really poorly represented in Minecraft. They drop meat and that’s it – you can’t even ride them anymore since the horse update either. Cows drop leather for books and such, chickens drop eggs and feathers for making arrows, and sheep drop wool for beds, carpets and other constructs. With the Pig Manure mod, you’ll now have a reason to start farming pigs too, even if they are somewhat finicky.

Adult pigs will randomly drop bits of manure with this mod installed. This has multiple uses, but the first and foremost is as a substitute for bone meal. The pig manure will help your plants to grow more quickly, plus it will save you the trouble of tracking down a skeleton spawner or building a spawner of your own. Besides that, the manure can also be used to make brown dyes, though if you told anyone where you got the coloring for the stuff they probably wouldn’t want it! Lastly, manure can be baked into bricks, much like clay. It actually gives experience for the smelting too, so pigs are very useful with this mod.

The Pig Manure mod is one of those special, little additions to Minecraft which yield big changes in the game, and for that it is a mod worth adding to your collection. It was designed to work with Forge and currently works with the latest version of that mod loader, so if you’re already using Forge, you’ll have no worries when installing this. How to install Pig Manure Mod?

1. Download Forge installer, open it and install
2. Open the Minecraft launcher and select Forge in the profile list
3. Click Edit Profile and then Open Game Dir, this opens the game folder
4. Create a new folder called mods
5. Download the mod and put it into the mods folder
