With a name like SimplySharp, you might think a resource pack would change the look of weapons in Minecraft, maybe make them look a little more intimidating. That couldn’t be further from the truth in the case of this particular resource pack. While it does do a little bit to improve the appearance of weapons, the main thing is this resource pack sharpens textures found throughout Minecraft. You’ll really notice the effects when you’re standing near a body of water and the liquid doesn’t creep up to the edge of the nearest solid block, like it does in vanilla Minecraft.
Instead, there is some elevation which shows off the textures of the surrounding blocks. The SimplySharp resource pack changes other things besides that, of course. Some textures such as gravel, wood planks and blocks of various types look completely different. Others, like doors and fences, look totally the same. Regardless of whether the block or item you’re looking at is using classic or revamped textures though, it is guaranteed to look better than ever thanks to the increased sharpness effect applied to literally every texture in the game. Things just look better – and that means all the things.
Because it is made so well, there’s not much bad to say about the SimplySharp resource pack. It isn’t quite finished yet, if that counts for anything. With about 84% of the native textures either totally replaced or simply improved though, SimplySharp is very nearly complete. The resolution is higher than you’ll find in most packs, and at 128x not everyone is going to be able to render textures in their game while using SimplySharp. Obviously, those who can’t use it won’t want it, but anyone else will probably like this pack.
