If you have a perverse desire to see what the world would look like following some sort of apocalypse, you’re not alone. Many people wonder this, and it’s no wonder that games like Fallout and STALKER do so well with people unable to pull their minds away from these “What if?” scenarios. The End is Extremely Nigh is a resource pack that makes Minecraft look like something following the detonation of a massive bomb. Well, to be fair, it isn’t really clear what kind of apocalypse the Minecraft world went through, but many of the textures look somewhat simple and very battered and worn.
It’s anyone’s guess what really happened in this pack, but all people who look upon it will see the same things. The End is Extremely Nigh has a low resolution of 32x which, granted, is a significant improvement over the vanilla game’s 16x resolution, but is also low enough that practically anyone who can play Minecraft can continue playing it with this pack installed. You’ll notice many blocks which appear to be made from some sort of wood or stone material, even outside of the usual wood blocks and planks and various cobblestone creations. Things look simple here.
To be fair, The End is Extremely Nigh is supposed to take place during the end of the world rather than after it. It seems like this pack would go very well with mods that add desperate and violent mobs to the game, but even without such mods, The End is Extremely Nigh does a good job of making Minecraft look like a dangerous place to be. Do you have some morbid curiosity that needs sating? Give this resource pack a try.
