The Witherstorm map is developer McMakistein’s entry into the Sethblings contest. The purpose of the Sethblings contest was basically to recreate something from the Minecraft story mode and implement it into the standard Minecraft game. Similar to how it functions in the story mode, in the Witherstorm map you’re supposed to run from the ferocious Witherstorm as quickly as possible. The storm will throw many obstacles your way and will try everything it can to stop you in your tracks so you have to overcome some serious odds in order to succeed in this one.
The gameplay in this map feels quite like an endless runner game. Your character will run on its own and all you have to do is follow the on-screen prompts by pressing the buttons displayed on them to make your way through the storm as quickly as possible. You’ll have to slide underneath things, sidestep incoming obstacles, and from time to time you’ll even have to stop in order to dodge the projectiles the storm throws at you. Overall the map is really fun to play because it relies heavily on the reaction times of the player. Upon completion of the run, you’ll be shown how much time you took to complete it.
All said and done; there are a few crucial things that need to be kept in mind about the Witherstorm map. Perhaps the most important thing that everyone should know is that this map won’t run unless you have a really strong PC. It struggles to run properly even on low-end machines so you’ll need some really high-end hardware to make it function properly but it’s definitely worth it because the map is just way too much fun to pass up on. It’s also worth noting that it’s single player only.
