Anyone who has played Minecraft on a Factions server probably already knows about using mob eggs to their advantage – like using creeper eggs to drop explosive monsters right outside of doors, thereby blowing them open and creating an entrance to a base. The Craftable Mob Eggs mod allows players to create their own mob eggs without any other mods or plugins. That means you can get your hands on various mob eggs even while playing vanilla Minecraft, and even while playing alone if you so wish. This is useful for a number of reasons, but one should be clear.
By crafting villager eggs and dropping a bunch of them in or around your home, you can create a village anywhere you like. In multiplayer settings, you could use lots of creeper eggs to create explosive traps around your home, or summon up a bunch of zombies and skeletons to keep out invaders. Equipping those mobs with weapons and armor by throwing it at them would just make them live longer and do more damage on top of that. Coming up with applications for the mob eggs is up to you, but the fact this mod allows you to craft them in the first place makes it worth trying.
You will need to have a recent version of MCForge installed to make the Craftable Mob Eggs mod work properly. Since Minecraft Forge will take care of all the technical aspects, all you need to do once it is installed is move the mod file into your .minecraft/mods folder. That should be easy enough to find, but if you can’t locate it, try searching for the %appdata folder and you should be moving in the right direction. In short, if you want the ability to spawn friendly or hostile mobs wherever and whenever you want, you’ll probably like this mod.
