This Minecraft mod is great for people who want to build their own lava or waterfalls which can be turned on and off with the press of a button, the flip of a switch, or the depression of a pressure plate. This very minor Minecraft mod adds one new block to the game – the Floodgate. This block acts as a literal floodgate, able to turn liquid streams on and off at the source, but it also doubles as a trapdoor for those with tree houses or other buildings utilizing the rarely used Minecraft trapdoor.
Crafting the new block added by Floodgate is easy enough – it’s just like making a Jukebox, except the eight wooden blocks are stone and the diamond in the center is replaced with a piece of redstone. This allows players to make a floodgate only minutes into starting a new world, or even sooner if playing online in a server which has the Floodgate mod installed. Like many other mods, Floodgate works perfectly fine in single player mode, but will only work online if the host also has the mod installed.
Floodgate requires the player to already have ModLoader installed, and then that the version of Floodgate being installed is also compatible with the currently installed version of ModLoader. Neither of these mods have been updated to work with Minecraft 1.8 yet, but since that update is less than two weeks old, the vast majority of mods also don’t yet work with the newest version of the game.
The Floodgate mod is useful for creating realistic floodgates and trapdoors. Because it doesn’t change any base blocks, it should work fine with most other mods.
