The Modular Armor Mod, or more accurately the Modifiable Armor Mod, allows players to add all kinds of new special mods and enchantments to armor items. Some of these special effects include things like wall climbing, increased jump height, increased running speed and more. The extra potion and spell effects are great, but the best part about this mod is probably the fact it represents durability in a written numeric value rather than a fuzzy green bar. This lets you know exactly how much more use you’ll get out of a currently held weapon or worn piece of armor before it breaks.
Many players know a broken weapon or piece of gear in the middle of a fight tends to mean the end of that fight, so this is a big deal. After crafting your Armor Modifier table, you can add the piece of armor to be modded and then pick from a long list of different effects. The Modular Armor Mod offers so many options it actually has its own custom GUI, with pop-up windows in-game that require the user to use an item while in sneak mode to open up the new windows. Oddly enough, the mod manages to do all this while only adding a single recipe to Minecraft.
That’s the Armor Modifier table which was already mentioned before. You can make that with a standard crafting table, four iron ingots and a full set of leather armor. When crafting, the leather armor needs to be minty fresh or else the recipe won’t produce what it should – probably just a little bug. While there is a host of magical effects to add to armor, all of that is explained pretty well in Minecraft thanks to the custom GUI which was also mentioned. The Modular Armor Mod is perhaps one of the easiest mods to simply install and jump into thanks to this ease of use.
