Simple Modern Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.8.8

The Simple Modern resource pack blends together elements of both simple packs that tend to feature low resolutions as well as modern packs which are often used in the making of urban cityscapes. As it is very nearly completed, the pack won’t be seeing too many more updates before it’s done, and the majority of new textures have already been implemented. That is, if something doesn’t look different already, it probably isn’t going to with later versions of the Simple Modern pack. Wooden blocks and planks are the same as in vanilla Minecraft, but pretty much everything else is different.

You will really notice the changes when working with more advanced blocks in Minecraft, like stone bricks, quartz blocks and redstone. One nice thing is that you can actually tell the difference between some things which have always looked too much alike. Trap chests have different markings than normal ones for instance, and dispensers and droppers also have varying textures so they don’t look exactly the same like they normally do. It’s little changes like this which really make the Simple Modern resource pack stand out since the textures are relatively, well, simple in most other cases.

This pack has support for Random Mobs and Random Blocks, but if you want the monsters and other textures to render correctly, you’ll need Optifine installed and running. Like most other packs which require Optifine to work as intended, Simple Modern will also require you to have MCPatcher installed. The low resolution, decent textures and unique user interface all work together to make Simple Modern a resource pack that might just be worth adding to your folder. It helps that anyone who can play Minecraft can also use this pack without any additional lag.
