Special Armor Mod for Minecraft 1.7.10

Armor in Minecraft has a single and solitary purpose – reducing incoming damage and extending the player’s life by allowing him or her to survive more hits from enemies. There are leather, iron, chain, gold and diamond armor varieties, which come in helmets, chest plates, leggings and boots. The Special Armor mod for Minecraft introduces a slew of new armor pieces, many of which have additional effects without the need to enchant them. This means players can get their hands on some fairly powerful stuff with just a crafting table and the resources needed to create a specific piece of armor.

While the effects created with the Special Armor mod to emulate some enchantments, they are not all simply rehashed effects which could otherwise be obtained through normal armor crafting. For example, there is a set of leggings made with iron and feathers. This significantly increases the player’s movement speed. While that effect might be had by brewing the appropriate potions, there are some other nifty bonuses as well. For instance, the fireplate is a suit of armor made with iron, a flint and steel and a lava bucket. It makes the player immune to lave and burns nearby mobs, up to 15 blocks away!

There are too many special pieces of armor in Special Armor to list them all here. Besides that, a list wouldn’t be accurate for very long. Though the mod is over two years old now, it is still recently updated, with the caretaker putting out new content as recently as a month prior to the time this review was written. Even items which would normally never make armor, like raw and cooked pork chops, can be used to make gear with this mod. Anyone looking for some fresh content in their Minecraft world might really enjoy the Special Armor mod.
