The Beaconators map takes a fresh new look at a tried and true PvP layout in Minecraft. On its surface it looks like any other capture the flag map – there are several points that must be taken, along with a variety of different paths to move through the map and attack the same points from multiple angles at once. However, unlike CTF where you need to grab something and take it back to your base, in Beaconators you are out to destroy beacons in the enemy team’s base; three of them in fact. This makes it a little less like CTF and a little more like League of Legends, in a fashion.
Because of the way the Beaconators map is set up, it’s actually very hard to win for either side. See, you need to do more than just make one good push, grab the flag, and then bolt. The team playing defense will have a strong advantage because they have only a short distance to go from their spawn to their beacons, which makes it very hard for either team to attack and do a lot of damage. Overextending your team to attack hard will leave your own base open to getting raided as well. If you’re looking for strategic multiplayer warfare, you must check out this map.
