The Chameleon Creepers Mod has been built to bring the creepiness back to the creepers of Minecraft. In the early stages of this game, these creatures were pretty tough to deal with since they blended in near flawlessly with the environment and caused a whole lot of trouble since you’d often run into them due to the fact that they were so well cloaked. It made the game rather challenging, but it was a nice feature nonetheless as it added a whole lot of depth to the way people played Minecraft. However, as of right now, creepers aren’t really that big of a deal due to biomes having different colors and creepers being really easy to spot in them.
What the Chameleon Creepers mod dose is that it gives all creepers the abilities of a chameleon. Creepers are able to use their surroundings to change their colors and, in turn, cloak themselves in case anyone passes by. Once this mod’s applied, you’ll have a whole lot of difficulty trying to spot creepers so there’ll be a constant feeling of distress while playing and this is feeling is quite similar to what it was like during the early stages of Minecraft when creepers actually blended in with the environment.
To make sure that the creepers are always properly, the Chameleon Creepers makes it so that they take the color of the block that they’re standing on rather than giving them the color of the biome they’re currently in. Therefore, if a creeper is standing in the water it’ll look completely blue, if it’s on the stone then it’ll take on the grey-ish color of the stone, if it’s on grass, then it will be green and similarly it’ll constantly keep changing colors depending on the block that it’s on. Overall, this is a great mod that’s worth considering if you want to bring the challenge factor back to the in-game creepers.
Chameleon Creepers Mod for Minecraft 1.8.9 Changelogs
- Creepers take the color of the block they’re standing (so it’ll work for caving), as opposed to the biome’s main color.
- The feature above is now a config option so that you can go back to just using grass (biome) colors.
How to install Chameleon Creepers Mod?
- Download the mod!
- When you haven’t installed Minecraft Forge yet, download and install it.
- Move the downloaded .jar into the mods folder.
- Have fun!
